You can help get the fertilizer bill passed by writing, phoning, or emailing your legislator. Urge a slow-release nitrogen content based bill — as desired by the bill’s sponsors — instead of industry’s proposal to rely on labeling.

Write, phone, or personally speak to your State Senator and two State Assembly representatives to request that they support the sponsors’ language that requires at least 30% slow release content in fertilizer used or sold in NJ. Senator Bob Smith, Senator Jennifer Beck, and Assemblyman John McKeon are the bill’s sponsors. The bill is numbered S-1411 and A-2290.

Tell your representatives to stand firm for requiring at least 30% slow release nitrogen and to oppose the labeling law that industry is proposing.

This is essential if Barnegat Bay is ever to be restored to health.
