THANK YOU REEDY CREEK CLEANUP VOLUNTEERS!

We had a record turnout for the cleanup on Saturday, November 5.

Saturday, November 3, saw the most successful Reedy Creek Cleanup in the twenty years in which Save Barnegat Bay has been hosting the event.

About fifty volunteers braved the outskirts of Hurricane Noel. We hauled a lot of trash of out the Reedy Creek woods to the trail head at the intersection of Adamston and Mantoloking Roads in Brick.

It is more work to find the trash as the years go by. We seem to be getting more out on our one day per year than the other sorts are bringing in on the other three hundred sixty-four!

In addition to hauling out trash by hand, wheelbarrow and truck, we put identification labels on trees and reinstalled an uprooted sign. We had fun!

Many thanks to Starbucks for providing coffee, pastries, and workers. And thanks to Bob Jahn for shooting photos of the event. Boy Scout Troop 16 from Point Pleasant was represented and so was Cub Scout Den 5, Pack 73 from Westfield. Thank you!

A BIG THANK YOU to the Brick Township Department of Public Works, whose provision of a dumpster is a key to the success of the event.

The public is always invited to Save Barnegat Bay cleanups. They are informal with plenty of time to enjoy nature.

Next cleanups:

Herring Point – near Traders Cove by Mantoloking Bridge – Sat., March 29, 2008
(always last Saturday in March)
Lavallette Bay Beach CleanupSat., May 3 or 10, 2008 (watch the SBB calendar) – Meet at the Gazebo.
