SPEED LIMIT on Barnegat Bay
@ 7:30 PM
Toms River Yacht Club
The purpose of the meeting is to inform all present as to how they can help bring about a speed limit on all our inshore tidal waterways. Anyone who wants to help is invited. Please bring like-minded, motivated friends, public officials, homeowner association officers, etc.
Our immediate task is to persuade the New Jersey Boat Regulation Commission to introduce a regulation that incorporates: 1) A 30 mph speed limit; 2) all inshore tidal waters, not just certain tributaries; 3) May 1 to October 31; 4) seven days a week; 5) no exemptions for those “practicing” for a race. Letters should be written to:
New Jersey Boat Regulation Commission
C/O NJ State Police, Marine Services Unit
P.O. Box 7068
West Trenton, NJ 08628-0068
Many additional steps need to be taken. There will be plenty of discussion, but not about whether we need a speed limit on Barnegat Bay. This meeting is about HOW to bring a speed limit into existence.
