Tom writes us as follows:
Hi,
We are going ahead with the cleanup of Herring Island From 9-12:00 on Saturday morning June 11th. At the moment we have 12 people, but we are waiting to here from 2 boyscout groups from Pt. Pleasant. We have permission to use Bay Head Shores Beach Club as an unloading point and I’m waiting for the town council of Pt. Pleasant to grant permission for the use of a town dumpster, which is looking good. I’m supplying the trash bags and will be using my 17 ft. Carolina skiff to make the runs back and forth to the dumpster. Of course we are looking for more volunteers. We will be starting with the trash, and if there is time and room in the dumpster we will get as much wood off the island as possible. Everybody is aware of the wildlife on the island and we will be extra careful not to disturb any possible nesting areas. Any help from Save Barnegat bay volunteers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom Van Nostrand and Family
