The Effect of Artificial Shoreline on Habitat Quality and Mortality of Blue Crabs, Callinectes sapidus.

The overall objective of this research, conducted by Paul Jivoff, Ph.D. of Rider University, was to examine the effect of bulkheading on marine and estuarine habitats, the diversity of species and the relative abundance of individuals, particularly the blue crab, Callinectes sapidus. In addition, the relative mortality rates of juvenile blue crabs in front of artificial versus natural shorelines were compared using tethering techniques.
