Captains

Captains, we want to hear from you! CLICK HERE to provide input on the next meeting’s guest speaker

Volunteer Captains attend local meetings and meet once a month over Zoom to discuss what’s going on in towns within the Barnegat Bay watershed. The group empowers citizens to advocate for the Bay on the municipal level and contributes to the cause of Save Barnegat Bay’s boots-on-the-ground mission.

While Captains are welcome to explore whichever meetings most interest them in their towns, they typically attend municipal and county planning board, zoning board, and environmental committee, and green team meetings to stay engaged in local development, environmental issues, and municipal partnerships.

All are welcome to join this group, regardless of past experience with attending local meetings. In 2023, Captains meetings will be held virtually over Zoom the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 PM. To get  involved or for more information please email Brittany at [email protected]

CAPTAINS PLEASE REPORT YOUR NOTES HERE.

Starting in 2022, Captains has expanded to include educational programming on a variety of local environmental and municipal issues. Each meeting, a different speaker is invited to host a brief presentation that according to pertinent conversations happening around the watershed or members’ request for certain topics. This has been an opportunity for concerned citizens to access expertise on issues important to them in their local communities that can then inform their participation in municipal meetings. Below, this section will be populated with presentations from past speakers.
