A BIG THANK YOU to Lavallette
Department of Public Works, Goldman Sachs, Starbucks, and residents who
came out Saturday, May 5th, for what turned out to be Save
Barnegat Bay’s most successful clean-up yet!
Forty five plus volunteers rallied from
9 AM until noon-time working diligently on cleaning up the debris from
the entire Lavallette bay front, cleaning and maintaining the vegetation
beds in the area of the tennis courts, and finally removing the heavy
polluting road debris that was dumped on the beach in years past.
Thank you Lavallette Department of
Public Works! Employees, Al and Chuck, were tremendous in doing
everything from producing portable toilets on demand to operating heavy
equipment flawlessly. They were a true pleasure to work with! Thank
you! And thank you Britta Wenzel for your efforts in helping to make
the cleanup possible and efficient.
A special thank you to our corporate
sponsors of the cleanup: Goldman Sachs and Starbucks! Goldman Sachs
supplied a whopping thirty volunteers, as well as lunch and cleanup
supplies, while the Starbucks Team brought coffee, volunteers and
sponsorship dollars as well.
To see before, during and after
pictures of the cleanup, please log on to

Sincerely,
Jennifer O’Reilly
Executive Director
Ps. A special note that the overwhelming majority of litter found on
the Bay Beaches was firework debris, followed by bottle caps.
