Every morning, I wait eagerly to see if today’s the day Britta (aka Mom) decides I’m going to work. When I get the nod, it’s the BEST DAY EVER! As soon as we’re close to the EcoCenter, I bark out the window to make sure to alert the entire neighborhood so all my best friends know I’m on my way!
At the EcoCenter, it’s my job to keep an eye on everyone coming and going. My favorite people? Definitely Willie and my awesome interns—they’ve mastered the art of throwing my ball. Speaking of which… ball!? Anyone want to throw it? I’ll even place it right by your foot, just in case you’re interested.
All I really need are a few kisses, a sunny spot behind Mom’s desk for a proper Labrador nap, and of course, more fetch time! Mommy works way too much... don’t you think we should just head to the river for a quick game of fetch?

Pirate Pearl
Captain of the "Adventure"
Home Port Barnegat Bay
After a fierce storm swept her ashore onto the Browns Woods, Pirate Pearl and her loyal crew now stand vigilant, guarding their shipwreck from nefarious pirates. These rogues steal burgees, pollute the woods, and create chaos wherever they go! For over 30 years, Pirate Pearl has sailed the waters of Barnegat Bay, harvesting its treasures and sharing the bay’s magic with children from all around.
Despite her many adventures, Pirate Pearl has found a soft spot for the kind-hearted crew at Save Barnegat Bay. They’ve proven themselves trustworthy, safeguarding her beloved ship while she ventures back out to sea, ensuring her mission to protect the bay continues.

Hi everyone, my name is Eco!
I’m an Egret—a long-necked, wading bird who loves to fish in the marshes and wetlands all around Barnegat Bay. Like many fishermen, I move slowly and patiently while hunting for my dinner in my favorite place in the Bay: the Sedge Island Marine Conservation Zone (SIMCZ). This spot is a treasure! It’s clean, beautiful, and free of the loud, scary boats that sometimes zoom by in other parts of the Bay and startle my friends.
Unlike some of my feathered cousins, I stay in Barnegat Bay all year round. I’m lucky to call the Bay my home and even luckier to live with my best friends at Save Barnegat Bay’s EcoCenter! I’m proud to be their Stormwater Education Mascot, helping to teach our communities about how stormwater impacts the Bay and what we can do to protect it.
One of my favorite things to do is meet people at Save Barnegat Bay’s events—so don’t forget to stop by and say hello! And if you’d like, you can even invite me over for a sleepover at your town hall to learn more about how your town can meet NJDEP’s stormwater requirements.
Barnegat Bay is the best place ever, and helping to protect it is even better! I can’t wait to talk with you and share ways we can work together to keep our Bay healthy and beautiful for generations to come.
