Yacht Clubs as Bay Champions

Yacht Clubs throughout Barnegat Bay are true Champions of the bay, partnering with us to lead educational programs and community events. Each club serves a unique community around the bay, which is why our Champions program is just as diverse! Is your Yacht or Beach Club connected with Save Barnegat Bay? If not, we’d love to get you involved! Email GraceAnne at education@savebarnegatbay.org to bring your club on board.

Want your club to co-host an event or program with Save Barnegat Bay? Fill out our Program Request form here, but be sure to check out our event descriptions below!

Browns Woods Pirate Raid

Ahoy, sailors!  Local yacht clubs are invited to embark on a swashbuckling adventure to Browns Woods beach, where you’ll retrieve lost treasure and navigate environmental education puzzles along the way! Junior Sailing programs are invited to “sail” to Browns Woods (or travel by car or motorboat) to recover their stolen burgee! Along the way, participants will problem-solve, meet live animals, interact with a band of silly pirates, become stewards of the watershed, and most importantly, have fun! Our program is flexible for all ages and group sizes. To bring your group for a Pirate program to the EcoCenter fill out the form above.

On-site Environmental Education

We all spend plenty of time on and around the bay, but have you explored what lies just below the surface? Our Education staff and interns can travel to your club and lead your youth in a seining adventure! Using hands-on environmental education tools, together we’ll learn more about the bay we all love. To schedule a free program, submit a request at the form below.

Talks and Screenings

We’re excited to offer Yacht Clubs and other community organizations the opportunity to host a free educational talk or screening of our documentary, DRIFT. Want to dive into a specific topic? Are there recurring Bay issues your club is concerned about? Save Barnegat Bay can help! To schedule a talk or screening with a staff member fill out the form below and you can learn more about our documentary here at our Drift page.

Environmental Initiatives

Lavallette Yacht Club is setting an inspiring example by launching an Environmental Committee within their club. They are actively educating members on important behavior changes that help protect the bay. Save Barnegat Bay is working alongside them to provide educational programs and empower their efforts.

Would your club like to start an Environmental Committee? Would you like to network and share ideas with other clubs? Email Brittany at assistant@savebarnegatbay.org to bring your club on board and get connected.

Cocktail Parties, Special Events, and Fundraisers

Save Barnegat Bay partners with clubs up and down the bay to host special events, cocktail parties, and fundraisers that help raise essential funds to support our mission. These efforts allow us to remain an independent voice for Barnegat Bay, driving targeted advocacy and education initiatives. If your club would like to host a fundraising event for Save Barnegat Bay please email our Development Consultant Maria, at maria@savebarnegatbay.org.

If you would like to contribute personally to the restoration and protection of the bay, please consider making a donation here:
